Every fictional town has a story.

Glenbriar's began with one struggling hotel on the shores of a sparkling Highland loch. But somewhere between writing that first chapter and waving goodbye to the characters at the end of the book, something unexpected happened.

The town refused to let me leave.

I always planned to write a series, but it's got even bigger than that!

Today, Glenbriar is home to hoteliers and teachers, whisky distillers and booksellers, campsite owners and café regulars. Families celebrate together, friendships endure, businesses change hands, Christmas lights twinkle every winter, and familiar faces pop up all the time.

Somewhere along the way, Glenbriar stopped being simply the setting for my books.

It became home.

Inspired by the Scotland I Love

Although my Glenbriar Scottish romances are entirely fictional, the heart of the series belongs in Highland Perthshire.

I live in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, surrounded by ancient woodland, rolling hills, rushing rivers, peaceful lochs and welcoming little towns. Places such as Dunkeld, Pitlochry and the villages scattered throughout Highland Perthshire have long inspired me, not because I wanted to recreate them exactly, but because I wanted to capture how they feel.

The warmth of a local café where you can catch up with friends. The excitement when the Christmas lights are switched on. The dramas that arise in day-to-day life. The feeling that no matter what life throws at you, somebody will always be there to lend a hand.

Those are the moments that make Glenbriar feel real.

Is Glenbriar a Real Place?

It's probably one of the questions I'm asked most often!

No – Glenbriar is not real and doesn't appear on any map.

I deliberately created a fictional Highland town so I could weave together everything I love about Scotland while giving myself complete freedom to invent its streets, businesses, traditions and history.

That means readers can explore the Loch View Hotel, browse the shelves at the Little Station Bookshop, enjoy a meal at the Cross Keys Restaurant, walk through the Forest Light Show, follow the Whisky Trail or wander beside Loch Briar, knowing that every corner of the town exists solely for the stories waiting to be told there.

More Than a Series – A Living Community

What began as one contemporary romance series has grown into something much bigger.

Glenbriar isn't simply the backdrop for a collection of books.

It's an ever-growing fictional world where every story adds another thread to the tapestry.

Readers meet new couples, but they also revisit old friends.

A supporting character in one novel may become the hero of another.

The main characters of a previous story might return. Even local legends might come to life.

Just like any real community, Glenbriar never stands still.

The Glenbriar Castle Series expands the world through Dairvin Castle on Loch Briar and the Bruce family, introducing new romances while remaining firmly rooted in the same welcoming community readers already know and love.

Glenbriar Legacy

Every town has a history.

The Glenbriar Legacy stories step back through the generations to uncover the romances, secrets and defining moments that shaped the town long before today's characters ever arrived. There have been stories and legends throughout mentioning a Roman fort site, Pictish stones, a witch's cave, an illicit still, an old mill, an abandoned shieling and of course the castle on Loch Briar. These stories deserve to be told.

Because every happily-ever-after has a beginning.

Where Should You Start?

If this is your first visit to Glenbriar, I'd recommend beginning with Stolen Kisses at the Loch View Hotel, where readers first discover the town and many of its familiar landmarks.

If you'd prefer a shorter introduction, you can also enjoy my free novella, New Beginnings in Glenbriar, which offers a gentle first glimpse of the community and some of the people you'll soon come to know.

The wonderful thing about Glenbriar, though, is that every novel tells a complete love story. You can arrive whenever you like, stay for as long as you wish, and you'll always be welcomed with open arms.

These connections are little treats for long-time readers rather than essential reading. Every series stands proudly on its own, but together they create a wider world celebrating the people, places and communities that make Scotland so special.

The Love on the Edge – Barra series has interconnected stories too but none of them overlap with the other series.

Why I Keep Coming Back

People sometimes ask whether I'll ever run out of stories to tell in Glenbriar.

The truth is, every time I finish writing one book, another character taps me on the shoulder or whispers in my ear.

That's the joy of writing about a community.
