Oh Margaret Amatt has done it again with another fantastic book in the Glenbriar series. We’ve met Elise and Gabe in previous books and there has been animosity between them for as long as anyone can remember. When Elise finds herself having to take on the role of tour guide for a coach trip she didn’t count on her ex Aiden ,his wife, best friend Gabe and sister Scarlett being among the passengers. With drama from the start and plenty of tension between Elise and the others this will definitely be a coach trip to remember with Elise having to dig deep professionally. However Gabe starts to see her more vulnerable side and soon they’re getting on much better……. I love how Margaret’s stories flow, how everyone is connected is easy to understand if you haven’t read the previous books, and how the dynamics between the characters is described. Family, friendships, loyalty and allowing yourself to accept and move on is covered, along with so much more. One of my favourite series by one of my favourite authors I highly recommend reading this ( and the rest of the Glenbriar books!) Looking forward to the next one!

After mistakenly thinking that this series was coming to an end, I was delighted to discover that there are even more in the pipeline after this one. This time, we got to re-meet and get to know Elise, who, up until now, has been an irritation more than anything, compromising the happiness of several key characters.
She is now living and working in Glasgow for an events and travel company. Thankfully, she has put Glenbriar firmly in her rear-view mirror and is determined to keep things that way. However, with no-shows from a couple of members of the new team that had been hired for the Glenbriar branch, she is faced with having to pick up on the task of guiding a coach tour into the Highlands of Scotland. On the tour are her ex-fiancé and his new wife, his sister, and his best friend, Gabe, who has never had a kind word for her.
Faced with an overwhelming situation, Elise presses ahead, and very soon the cracks begin to show, until the proverbial wheels fall off. The only comfort for Elise is that Gabe seems less inclined to find fault with her than usual. Frequently mercurial in her ways, Elise was increasingly calm and focused on the tour. This was the first clue to a more mature Elise and suggested an opportunity for some personal growth.
Given Margaret’s writing style, we were soon granted access to Gabe’s inner thoughts and discovered a reason for his hostility, which ran deeper than a protective best friend. Of course, there was no way that Elise and Gabe could ever be attracted to one another, was there?
Once again, Margaret has made good on her promises and delivered another captivating book that shows the depths of human emotion and the ability to flex and forgive. I’m so pleased that this series will continue, for now. It was just the tonic I needed.

Fight or Flirt is the fourteenth book in the Glenbriar series but each book can be read as a standalone. This was a quick and easy read. With a lovely writing style Margaret Amatt has really made this a series I love reading. A great addition to the series.

So great to return to Glenbriar once more
Though for Elise doing so really wasn’t so sure!
She’d left after growing up there, you see
Escaping mistakes and her past as quickly as can be.
It is only a temporary move to cover others
But acting as a coach tour guide, she soon discovers,
Can bring people from your past with you once more
Along with emotional turmoil that’s hard to ignore!
With her ex, together with his wife, sister and best friend
There’s potential for turmoil from beginning to end!
Add in attraction building that’s impossible to ignore
A recipe for trouble, that’s for sure!
Such a fun read with drama all the way through,
No wonder I highly recommend it to you!
For my copy of this fab read I say a huge thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review.

Fight or Flirt on the Scenic Route by Margaret Amatt is a lovely read
Fight or Flirt on the Scenic Route is the 14th book in The Glenbriar Series, but can be read on its own as a standalone. Although reading the others makes the reading experience so much more enriched by doing so as you meet many characters before they become the stars of their own book

This is Book 14 in The Glenbriar Series and in this book we see the story of Elise and Gabe.
I absolutely adore this series and Margaret is ALWAYS an automatic read whenever I see a new book in the series!
While it can be read as a standalone, there is a whole other 13 books worth of characters... and some pop up 😉.
The story follows Elise who escaped Glenbriar after a disastrous romance or two, who is forced to return for work and also Gabe - an old face from Elise's past and a travel blogger.
We join the pair on a bus tour week - Elise as a tour guide and Gabe as a client on the bus!
The chemistry between the two is electric and I loved this - definite 'will they, won't they' tension!
I absolutely loved Elise ❤️ but she has had such bad experiences, I really felt for how confused she felt in her past.
Gabe took a little longer to warm up to because of his reaction to Elise but I eventually ended up liking him!
Margaret's writing style is always brilliant, flows easily, intriguing relationships and heart-warming moments.
I only started reading this series from Book 12 but I am hooked on this series! I will be starting on the books I have yet to read in the series shortly but if they are anything like this book, I will adore it too!
I highly recommend to romance lovers!

This is book 14 in the Glenbriar series but can be read as a Standalone, like i did, and is available on Kindle unlimited. Slide 2 has the tropes, slide 3 the blurb and slide 4 has the tour poster!
And finally here is my thoughts!
Straight away i was drawn in by the cover, the colours, its just beautiful 😍
I could feel the tension between Gabe and Elise straights away! Its sizzling and hot!
I enjoyed this coach ride and the journey of denial these two went through. I loved that you could feel the emotions really heighten and the forced proximity adds to the pressure 🥵
Stolen glances that make even the back of your neck tingle!
This was a great read and beautifully written, I'm off to explore more of the series, as its all available on Kindle unlimited, perfect Sunday evening 💕

I do love a trip to Glenbriar and @margaret_amatt_author is a superb author who gets better and better with every book.
I adored the characters in this one. Elsie and Gabe are just gorgeous and stole my heart quickly. I became fully invested in them from very early on.
It’s always nice to revisit characters from previous books in the series and this has been no different. Amatt makes it easy to fall in love and become quickly hooked.
Fight of Flirt is a completely brilliant book. I’ve read most books by @margaret_amatt_author and they definitely get better and better. This is one of my favourite books to date.
I absolutely adored this book from beginning to end.

Fight or Flirt on the Scenic Route is the 14th book in the Glenbriar series. All of the books are standalones but familiar characters reappear in subsequent books. The main characters in this book, Gabe and Elise were both minor characters in previous books. Although there is no detriment to reading this book as a standalone, the entire series is gorgeous and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
This storyline was a true enemies to lovers story because Elise was the ex-girlfriend of Gabe’s best friend Aidan and Gabe was a protective friend. However, Gabe and Elise have such intense chemistry they cannot stop thinking about one another and also cannot stay away from each other. Their romance was steamy but also incredibly romantic. The forbidden element, with them both believing that they could never be officially together because of Aidan felt unfair but also completely understandable.
I adored the coach trip to Skye, even though for me personally it would probably be my worst nightmare as I’m an introvert. There was certainly an interesting combination of people on the coach trip! Skye sounded so beautiful in the descriptions and I found myself wishing I could visit Skye and the fairy pools.
Glenbriar and its residents have almost become a reality for me. I feel like I am part of the fictional town because the people have become so familiar to me.
Fight or Flirt on the Scenic Route is a captivating enemies to lovers story on a coach tour to the Isle of Skye with plenty of snatched moments in a massive need for secrecy.

Tizi's Book Review
Elise Reid has made many mistakes in her life. So in order to get her life back on track, she left Grenbriar and is happy working for a coach tour operator in Glasgow. Working behind the scenes is exactly what Elise wants, but when there is a new base opening in Glenbriar, and the tour that has been organised is suddenly without a guide, Elise finds herself back on the coach. To make things even worse, the tour is with a few familiar faces. Faces that Elise isn’t ready to see yet, as it is her ex – fiancé and his new wife, that same ex – fiancé’s little sister and his best friend. With a shared past, Elise fears that this tour will turn into a real nightmare. But what she didn’t expect is that out of the blue, she finds herself attracted to Gabe Wilder, the best friend. The friend who is a famous eco – blogger but feels burned out, and does not know where life will take him next. So going on a coach tour with his best friend could be a way to get a clear head and reset. Even if Elise is the tour guide, the person that hurt his best friend. And whatever happens, bro’s before…, right? Yet during the tour there is not only an initial attraction, but sparks start to fly around like fireworks. And with the agreement that what happens on the tour stays on the tour, nothing could go wrong, right?
I always love returning to Glenbriar. However, this time I didn’t feel the same joy that I usual had. As in the previous books, I loved the main characters from the very start, with Elise, it was the opposite.
Because as I have read all the previous books of this wonderful series, I knew of Elise, her past, and her connection to a few characters. And what she did previously, didn’t paint a great picture of Elise. Yet I also am a believer that people can change and deserve a second chance.
So while I was perhaps a little bit reluctant, I wanted to give Elise a chance not to only show us how she has changed, but also I wanted her to have her own happy story.
Elise working for a coach tour operator resonated with me, as my own brother works as a tour guide during school holidays. And as I have been with him on a few tours, I know how tiring and even exhausting it can be. Not only the trip itself, but also the people on it too! And I could perfectly understand why Elise isn’t all that happy to be in that coach again, as she definitely prefers working behind the scenes.
Of course I could also perfectly understand how Elise wants the ground to swallow her, once she learns that there are people on the tour that she knows. And not just any people, but her ex-fiancé Aidan with his wife Lilah, Aidan’s sister Scarlett and then there is Gabe… Talking about a nightmare coming true!
Yet I have to admit, even if I was still wary of Elise at first, I had to absolute admire her professionalism. I don’t know if I would be able to keep my calm with what is happening on the coach, involving mainly Scarlett and her boyfriend…
A professionalism Elise tries to keep up all the time, no matter how awkward each situation is. It cannot be easy to be facing those people of the past, especially as they clearly only know the façade Elise showed and still shows them.
Because the more I got to know Elise, the more I had to readjust my opinion of her. Of course, she made mistakes in the past, but haven’t we all made mistakes? And it saddened me to read how she didn’t let anyone close enough to show them the real Elise. Because the Elise behind closed doors is not the Elise that everyone sees and believe to know.
Elise shows a vulnerability that many of us also have. Reading those doubts, fears and insecurities felt at moments like a mirror in my face, because I saw some of those bits also in myself…
Elise truly has changed, she knows what she did was wrong. And being faced with that past again, while trying to move on, even if she hasn’t found the courage to return to Glenbriar yet, felt like a slap in her face, even perhaps a much needed wake – up call.
A wake – up call that also comes in the form of Gabe.
Gabe has been Aidan’s best friend for years. So obviously, when Elise broke Aidan’s heart, he stood by Aidan, just like a real friend should.
And how he cares about his friendship with Aidan, how he acts as a brig brother with Scarlett, shows the kind of man Gabe is. When he cares, he *cares* and he would go lengths for his loved ones.
But on a personal level, Gabe is a bit in turmoil, as he does not know what to next career – wise. And I could understand it, because while he has been rather successful as a eco – blogger, it starts to feel more and more like a chore, and not a passion anymore…
A passion that suddenly ignites with the most improbable person ever, the woman that broke his best friend’s heart. Of course as a reader I absolutely enjoyed reading how awkward it feels for both Elise and Gabe, and they don’t know what to do with those feelings.
And let me tell you, pfeeew sparks fly around! They keep gravitating around each other every moment, and when they give in, to ‘get rid of that itch’ (yeah right, who believes that anyway! 😊) I felt a happiness because despite their intentions, something shifts.
Elise and Gabe are able to open up something inside of each other, something unexpected but so much needed. And it was beautiful to read how they find each other, the two most unlikely people to get together.
In this book we not only see how everyone deserves a second chance, a new opportunity to not find love per se, but to find happiness again, to be able to return back home. We see the struggles of allowing to be just yourself, to let everyone see the real you, the beautiful bits but also the ugly (a.k.a. the painful) ones. It is also about loyalty, with the struggles of following your heart, but possibly causing a betray to your loved ones.
But most importantly, we see the love, care, generosity and the will of forgiveness of people. We see in this lovely book, by this amazing author, that love, in every aspect, will always prevail and will find a way to express itself.

Captured on Film
Still on a mission to find my reading mojo. I have read most of the books in the Glenbriar series but not all of them although I would need to go back and check. Saying that although the books are all connected to each other I do think that they work well as stand alone titles.
When I started Fight or Flirt it felt like I was returning to a favourite holiday location. It sort of felt like coming home. Probably helps that the series is set in The Highlands - which is just down the road from where I live.
I loved the enemies to friends feel about the story. Got to love a bit of animosity to spark the intrigue and then see how the relationship changes and develops.
This is the 14th book in the series and I found it a delightful and quick read. This is down to Margaret's lovely writing style - it is just so easy to read and lose track of time.
My next job is to go back and find the books I might or might not have missed and play catch up.

Books, Life and Everything
This is a series which shows no signs of flagging and in this next story, we are taken on a scenic bus ride away from the town into the Highlands. This next in the series focuses on Elise who we have met in previous stories and may not have formed the best opinion of her at times. Now, you get to see inside her thoughts and to +understand how she feels about how she has acted in the past. One or two on the bus tour which she is guiding have certainly met her before and are far from pleased to find that she is back in their lives.
Gabe is hoping for a break from his blogging life and a chance to work out what he wants for his future. He is feeling jaded and ready for a change. Horror struck to meet up with Elise, you nevertheless see the chemistry between them and a friendship developing. There are some lively characters on the tour alongside them who give the story some humour at times.
You can't help but empathise with Elise as she finds herself working back near Glenbriar. She is torn between wanting to escape from people she knows and missing the friendships she has left behind. With the gorgeous Scottish scenery as a backdrop and some interesting subplots, this is an enjoyable read and good edition to the series.
In short: facing up to some home truths.
Thanks to the publisher

It feels like an age since I last visited Glenbriar. It's one of those places I always look forward to returning to. I've made many friends there and I love their community spirit.
I met Elise a few books back. She's one of those characters who you remember for all the wrong reasons. Fight or Flirt is her story.
Enemies to lovers is the name of the game when she meets Gabe, best friend of her ex. It's one of my favourite book tropes.
A great inclusion to the series and a thoroughly enjoyable romance read.

But I Smile Anyway
I loved reading this by the poolside. There was somewhere to cool off when it got a bit steamy, lol!
Elise Reid is the FMC. She is loving her life in Glasgow, but her company requires her to make a possibly temporary move back home to Glenbriar, where there are many poor memories and soured relationships with exes and friends.
Gabe Wilder, the MMC and a semi-famous environmental podcaster, is the best friend of one of Elise's exes. And he's not her biggest fan.
Upon Elise's return home, she must serve as the tour guide for a group of people, including her ex, his wife, his sister, and her boyfriend, as well as Gabe, whom she knows dislikes her.
You can feel the build-up of tension and chemistry between two people who know they shouldn't feel anything for one another, yet can't help their physical yearnings, which brings them to an agreement to quench their thirst for one another with a little holiday fling. But oh, my goodness, the chemistry between the two of them leaves us all wondering if they would ever manage to stop at a couple of bunk-ups!
There is a side story involving Scarlett, Elise's ex's sister, and a troublesome boyfriend who causes her significant pain, adding more drama to the book.
I sped through this in one day and thoroughly enjoyed it!

This is the 14th book in the series and can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read all the books but the ones I’ve read and this one have been interesting and captivating.
This is the story of Elise, a tour guide, and her ex-boyfriend’s best friend, Gabe, who disliked her for breaking his friend’s heart. Elise has a complicated past and is now stuck on a weeklong coach trip with her ex, his wife and Gabe.
I loved the setting of this book- a coach tour around the Scottish Highlands. The book did justice to these picturesque scenes and paved the way for this to be an escapist summer romance.
This has drama and tension, given the nature of the ‘situation’ between Gabe and Elise. Their enemies to lovers , forced proximity and ‘forbidden’ romance was one for the books. The author captured their emotions, spark, and tension accurately. The chemistry was hot, way hotter than the previous books in the series.
I love how this celebrates Scottish culture, friendship, small town, forgiveness and love. The author’s storytelling is inspiring and shows the dynamics of human relationships/interactions.
If you love small town drama and are looking for a new author to inspire your reading then I recommend this.

What better way to spend my day catching up on the goings on in the Scottish village of Glenbriar. I do love this series, but one of the things that gives me huge pleasure is the subtle ‘Easter Eggs’ woven seamlessly into each story – knowing that the end of a book doesn’t necessarily mean the end of a character for the reader. However, I simply cannot start to imagine how Margaret Amatt keeps track of who is who, and who lives with whom, in her wonderful books!
This is book 14 in the Glenbriar series; sadly I only joined the party at book seven, but I can honestly attest to the fact that the later books in the series feel just as new and fresh as the first one I read. Quite some achievement!
I liked both Elise and Gabe, but it did seem that there was a certain amount of less than good history between the pair, to the extent that Elise felt unable to even visit her hometown of Glenbriar! How sad! But was she really the awful Person that Gabe seemed to think she was, or was she universally (including her own perceptions) misunderstood? Perhaps she needed to view this work situation as a positive opportunity – the chance to mend broken fences with friends and family, rather than focussing on her negative thoughts and memories with regard to Glenbriar. I must get one thought out in the open at this stage though – it really tickled me, the thought of Gabe and his friends – relative youngsters – even entertaining the idea of going on a coach tour holiday, regardless of whether or not the trip was free of charge! Surely the majority of under 50s would want to be paid to even consider such a trip?
Scarlett seems totally loved up, although I am really unsure why; her partner Leon just makes me think of controlling coercive behaviours. Thankfully the holidaying group of friends is balanced by the lovely Aidan and Lilah. I was however left in no doubt that trip would be neither uneventful nor quiet! I just hoped that our party’s bickering and unpleasantness wouldn’t be allowed to taint the holidays of the others around them!
Gabe did shine out for his no nonsense approach to abusive behaviour – a sad nod to his past, unfortunately.
Can Gabe and Elise call time on their attraction to each other, or will the pull of Cupid be just too strong? You will have to read this – how do I describe it – it is the literary version of chocolate – the more you read, the more you want to read on, and the words just slide down your throat, like your favourite chocolate bar, leaving you immensely satisfied.

I have just whizzed through Margaret Amatt’s up and coming release, ‘Fight or Flirt on the Scenic Route.’ Its wonderful, light and engaging, she’s definitely incredibly talented and in my opinion is the BOSS of romance series. The characters and the way their emotional intelligence comes across is quite something.
In this offering we join a bus tour to the Isle of Sky, we get to follow Elise and Gabe’s perspectives and how their spark evolves over the journey.
Elise ends up leading a bus tour that she’d rather not, after all her ex Aidan and his wife Lilah, his sister Scarlett and her boyfriend Leon are on the tour as well as Gabe who has never liked her.
The past joins the present and the tour sets off to an awkward start, will all passengers remain on the coach? One of them is a walking red flag and rather unpleasant.
Not one to skimp on scenery, she’s definitely made me want to visit the Isle of Skye and the Fairy Pools.
So many familiar and unexpected faces that turn up and I have to admit I would love to live at Gabe’s mums house. It sounds so exotic.
Will the sizzling heat thaw the ice between the will they won’t they golden pair without anyone noticing? Step into the book and enjoy being swept away.
Margaret deserves her Glenbriar Series to be made into Hallmark or Disney type movies.
Can’t wait for the next release and this isn’t even out yet.

Have you already started writing a new book?
Yes, I have! In fact, I have already drafted the next 2 books!
Can you start writing a new story immediately after finishing the previous one or do you need a break first?
It depends. I usually take some kind of a break between writing books—though often that means editing or plotting another one before I start writing again. But sometimes I go straight into the next one. If I have a very clear idea of where the next book is going, I like to start writing ASAP.
Do you prefer researching certain locations or do you like inventing your own?
Actually both! I love writing about real places, visiting them and trying to make them sound authentic in the story. But I also love creating fictional places. This can be really freeing and gives me scope to invent new places when and if they’re needed.
How do you come up with a title for your book?
Sometimes ideas just come to me, other times I brainstorm a lot and often my husband helps me. He’s good at puns and word play, so he has good ideas—though I often have to wade through his cheeky nonsense to get something sensible. For this book I had the idea for ‘Fight or Flirt’ but I needed a second part which initially was going to be ‘on the Coach Tour’ but my husband came up with ‘on the Scenic Route’, which I liked much more! So, this was a joint effort! The next book ‘Love Match on the Road Home’ just popped into my head as I was plotting the story, so I kept it.
How do you pick a cover for your book?
I design my own covers and really love doing it. I use Photoshop and Canva to bring all the elements together. I also draw some of the characters and buildings on Photoshop or using Procreate (drawing software) on the iPad to make sure they look like what I had in mind for the story.
Do you sometimes get up at night to write because the perfect idea suddenly popped up?
Sometimes, though I tend to make notes on my phone if this happens—and quite often when I wake up and read them, I have no idea what the notes mean 🙈
Which book is the next one on your ‘to read’ pile?
Lottie’s Little Secret by Debbie Viggiano
Do you finish every book you start reading?
Usually, I keep going unless I really don’t gel with a book, but it’s rare for me to DNF a story.
Do you always read the blurb before you start reading a new book or do you want to be surprised?
I love reading blurbs, so I always read them!
What makes you choose a book in a bookstore : the catching title, the name of the author, the fascinating cover or a combination?
Probably a combination, though an eye-catching cover would probably by the reason I picked something up to check it out!!

Describe Fight or Flirt on the Scenic Route in 5 words.
Banter Bickering Baggage Breathtaking Belonging
Have you ever been on a coach tour? Where would your dream coach tour be to?
I’ve been on one coach tour, but it was only a day trip from London to Stratford, Oxford and Warwick. I’ve never done one with overnight stops. I think I would enjoy a coach trip around Italy!
If Fight or Flirt on the Scenic Route was adapted, who would you love to play Elise and Gabe?
Eek – I’m not sure at all, but maybe Katie McGrath and Gerard Butler! They’re probably a little older than the characters in the book, but they would look good in the parts!
How much say do you get on your covers?
I design all my own covers, so I can keep them exactly the way I like them—within reason! And I always get lots of opinions to make sure they hit the mark.
Would you venture out into another genre of writing either fiction or nonfiction?
Yes, absolutely. I’ve toyed with writing help guides for writers and even started working on a couple in collaboration with a friend. I also would like to write historical fiction at some point too.
Who are your writing inspirations?
This depends a lot on my mood! I don’t think any one particular person inspired me to write, but people in general do. I love reading and people-watching, which means I pull inspiration from various people (and places and events) depending on what I’m working on.
